7 Friendsgiving Dishes That Break Tradition and Won’t Bore You to Tears

Friendsgiving – the millennial tradition where friends come together for good wine, hang time, and a Thanksgiving-esque meal. After being to many of these get togethers over the years, I notice that many of us make the exact same dishes we eat with our families the next weekend. Why is this?

This is the opportunity to be non-traditional… and to spice it up a bit. Why make the same ole BORING food when you can literally bring whatever you want? Who said you had to make the traditional green bean casserole, stuffing, and pecan pie? No one.

While all those dishes are good and dandy, we are going to focus on creative, outside the box recipes for this post. Some of them are WAY outside the box, but so tasty!

FRIENDSGIVING SANDWICH SLIDERS

Some Friendsgivings are small, and the cost for a big turkey just isn’t practical. Buy turkey meat already cooked, and you can make these delicious sandwiches of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry relish, and all on a delicious Hawaiian roll. These are also perfect for leftover Friendsgiving/Thanksgiving food!

POMEGRANATE GUACAMOLE

This specific guacamole recipe is a guaranteed crowd pleaser! The tartness of the pomegranates adds the perfect touch to this guac and your friends won’t even have to pay extra!

SAVORY PUMPKIN & BACON DIP

LOVE this cream cheese based dip… it’s the right amount of creaminess with pumpkin, and bacon swirled in creating a unique dip for everyone to try. Fave crackers to pair it with are Ritz or Trader Joe’s Beet Crackers.

BACON WRAPPED GREEN BEAN BUNDLES

Take a break from the green bean casserole. I guarantee someone will make it for your family Thanksgiving. These bundles taste DIVINE and the sugary bacon wrap makes for a savory treat!

BAKED “MAC AND CHEESE” (VEGAN)

Before you snub it, I’ve been told this recipe tastes better than real mac and cheese, and I have to say it is pretty darn good. The topping is made with ground flax seed, and this casserole is creamier than ever!

STREET TACO CASSEROLE

Perhaps maybe the most out of the box idea, but who doesn’t love tacos?! Pair with your fave hot sauce for a dish everyone will be pleasantly surprised to eat!

DARK CHOCOLATE BOURBON PECAN PIE WITH HOMEMADE PIE CRUST

Pecan pie is a fan fave – add chocolate and a good bourbon, and this boozy dessert will be the topping on the cake (ha). Also a chocolatey dream that pairs well with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This homemade pie crust is a delicious recipe and made without margarine!
